West Mersea Beach
A sandy and pebbly beach popular with windsurfers as well as peace loving families after a traditional beach day.
It’s safe for paddling but there’s no lifeguard available at any time and the fact the windsurfers like it would encourage one to stay in the shallows!
It’s also apparently excellent for crabbing, which can be done from the pontoon, and seals have been spotted offshore too!
Seek out the eastern end of things for some less popular spots with higher sand content over pebble. There are also some interesting footpaths here to enjoy.
Immediate vicinity amenities include beach side toilets, plus a few shops and cafes. There are also apparently some playgrounds within sight of the beach at either end.
